Delaney’s Room Refresh

Let me preface this blog post by saying that Delaney’s room did not technically NEED a refresh (room before pictured below). It was really adorable as it was, but then as fate would have it, I scored these beautiful peach colored antique twin headboards on Facebook Marketplace, and I was DETERMINED to figure out how/where I could use them in the house.

This was Delaney’s room prior to the refresh

Amazing what adding more color can do to a room! THESE HEADBOARDS STOLE THE SHOW!

As the wheels were churning on where to incorporate the newly acquired headboards, I happened to hop onto Rifle Paper Co. website and browse their rugs, as I do pretty much once or twice a month. They have established a beautiful marriage with the rug company, Loloi, and all of the rug options they have available on their site are absolutely stunning. When I laid eyes on this Camont Rug, that was it for me. I knew then and there that these $50 headboards were going to replace the brand new $1400 Restoration Hardware canopy bed regardless of who thought I was crazy.

As of now, most of Delaney’s bedroom furnishings are antiques/thrifted. This lamp was a $10 Salvation Army find, but came with no shade. I spent like 8x more on the shade then I did on the lamp, but it was so important for me to put something on here that would really compliment this beautiful table lamp, so I needed something large and something antique looking. This 12×18 Imperial Shade was the perfect fit. I went with the cream because I wanted it to stand out against the backdrop of this stunning Magnolia Wallpaper Mural. These vintage botanical prints used to hang above Delaney’s crib when we first moved in, but I love them so much I can’t bring myself to rid the room of them, so I think i’ll be hanging them on the wall to flank either side of the vintage lamp.

If you follow along with my Instagram account, then you already know I DIY’d the bedskirts using my trusty FABRI-TAC, this beautiful Laurel Cotton Fabric (mint), and some of my favorite trim. I love good pattern play in a room, and I really have to say, I feel like I nailed it in here.

I also made these custom pillow cases using my FABRI-TAC and this adorable Strawberries Cotton fabric. I love the Alimrose dolls for the girls beds. My sister-in-law used to sell them in her children’s boutique locally, but you can find them online here. They also have really great plush animal options.

This little vanity in the corner of Delaney’s room is her favorite thing in here. She sits at it and plays for hours. I eventually plan to switch out the knob on the door and add a chair cushion, but I am overall very happy with the quality and the aesthetic of the piece.

I had some fun with my leftover fabric by covering Delaney’s book ledges and bookcase, and trimmed out some other things in the room with the leftover trim, like the book case, this $3 Goodwill lampshade (that just so happened to match perfectly in color) and her bow bin. I absolutely love displaying our favorite books, and have these ledges in all the kids rooms and the playroom. I have some highlight reels on all of my DIY’s in here on my instagram page (@JeffersonHome_)

Here Are Some of Our Favorite Books

Flora and the Flamingo // Counting with Barefoot Critters // The Velveteen Rabbit // Le Petit Baby Book // Little Dreamers Visionary Women Around the World // The Wonderful Things You Will Be // If I had a Little Dream

All in all, I am completely ecstatic with the end result of this refresh, and I’m fairly certain i’ll be leaving this room alone, for at least a little bit 😉
